What is a CSA?

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a new and resourceful concept connecting local farmers with local consumers.

Members cover a CSA farm's yearly operating budget by purchasing a share of the season's harvest a year ahead so the farmer can plan his crops according to membership numbers.

This relationship between local farmers and community members helps create an economically stable farm operation in which members are assured the highest quality produce, often at below supermarket prices.

What we produce

At Fresh Edibles Farm, we listen to our shareholders when planning crops. Our harvests vary year to year, but the list below includes most of what we've grown in the past:

Artichokes, Basil, Beans, Beets, Blackberries, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Corn, Cucumber, Dill, Eggplant, Garlic, Gourds, Kale, Leek, Lettuce, Melons, Okra, Onions, Parsley, Peas, Peppers, Potatoes, Pumpkins, Radish, Raspberries, Strawberries, Spinach, Squash, Tomatoes, Turnips...and more!

Large, medium and small-sized shares of produce are available for a trial basis as well as single and double 12-week blocks throughout the spring, summer and fall growing seasons.

Large shares feed 4+ people/week. Medium shares feed 3-4 people/week. Small shares feed 1-2 people/week.

Fresh Edibles Farm delivers farm fresh "beyond organic" produce to shareholders once a week around the Central San Joaquin Valley.

Why Fresh Edibles produce?

Great taste!
The reason top chefs use locally grown foods...they taste far superior simply because they're fresh!
Reduce health risks
We practice "beyond organic" farming, using far less sprays than even "certified organic" farms!
Protect our water!
The EPA estimates pesticides pollute ground water in 38 states! Buying local also saves resources.

By popular demand!

To meet shareholders' needs, we offer eggs produced by pasture-grazed chickens. We raise Rhode Island Reds and Araucana hens.

Our hens are fed organic chicken scratch (sunflower seed, grain, and corn) and organic, soy-free pellets. They are also given oyster shells for calcium (good for egg shells) and for their gizzards (makes it easier for chickens to digest foods). Plus, our hens are excellent foragers!

Because pastured hens eat a varied diet, their eggs are more nutritious. Nutritional analysis has shown pastured eggs are richer in nutritious elements like omega 3 acids and vitamin C.

Our organic pastured eggs are available in full and half-dozen shares, year-round.
