It was great to see so many turn out for our first Annual Pumpkin Etching and Tomato Tasting Day.
I know many of you are giddy with anticipation to know the results, PumpkinDay030.JPGbased on our member’s grades of the Tomato Tasting Event, so here they are.
1.         Black Cherry

2.         Flamme’

3.         Brandywine

4.         Jubilee

5.         Amana Orange

Black Cherry was the hands-down favorite.  So there you have it.  It was great fun for all. Bob and I really enjoyed it.  Look for the Amana Orange in your box this week!  Obviously these five varieties will be included in next seasons planting.
As for the Pumpkin Etching, that was a huge success too. Many kids, and lets not forget adults, had the opportunity to check up on the pumpkins they planted.  They etched their names in to the sides of them. The red flags had their names on them so they would know their own pumpkin. To those growing their first plants ever, Fresh Edibles would like to say, Congratulations!

Pumpkin Planting Day

Shareholders join Bob in Planting Pumpkin Seeds!
PumpkinPlanting028.JPG

Many FreshEdible Farm shareholders came out to our first annual PumpkinPlanting014.JPGPumpkin Planting day. Farmer Bob spent the day educating how to plant pumpkin seeds, then care for them. This is all in preparation for our fall pumpkin patch so  that FreshEdible shareholders will get to come out and pick their own pumpkins. For those shareholders and families that were there it will be special to come back out during the October weeks and pick the very pumpkins that they helped to plant.

While out at the FreshEdible Farm the shareholders got to walk around the farm seeing various produce that was being grown.
Although watchdog Brie was trying to hog the spotlight during the beautiful day on the farm, she only came in second to the  special opportunity  the shareholders had of planting their own produce.

Again thanks to all of our shareholders who came out to our first Annual Pumpkin Planting Day. We hope to see you all out on the farm next year!

 Indian Corn Family Day

FreshEdibles offers a fun, unique experince!

A couple of our shareholders and friends came out with their 47b7ce26b3127cce98548b0170c200000027108BasnDVo1cI.jpgfamilies to pick organic Indian Corn. The uniquely colored kernels engage the eye and offer many special uses. Our shareholders can use the decorative autumn corn to bring a natural touch to their home in a basket arrangement or be made into popcorn.

The families enjoyed exploring the farm and rare opportunities to learn about how produce is grown organically. This fall harvest was successful and the shareholders took
advantage of being able to pick their own weekly shares taking them home, straight from farm to fridge.

We enjoyed the event very much and will continue to have events like this to encourage our shareholders to partake in the FreshEdible experience!IMG_1268.jpg
