Taking care of your share of produce and eggs at home

Because our produce and eggs are picked and collected at their peak, they must be refrigerated as soon as possible to retain freshness.

Greens: Soak greens in very cold water for 15-30 minutes. Rinse individual leaves and spin in a salad spinner to dry. Wrap greens in cotton cloth (like a clean kitchen towel) or a plastic bag.

Root Veggies: Remove green tops and clean/store as other greens. Soak veggies in very cold water for 15-30 minutes. Rinse and scrub with a vegetable brush. Refrigerate immediately. (We just throw ours in the veggie bin without using bags.)

Berries: Immediately store in a plastic container with a lid. Rinse just before using.

Herbs: We store most of ours on the counter top in a large glass of water until needed. Rinse and dry before using.

Eggs: Store your eggs in the carton in which you brought them home in the refrigerator. Clean them only when you're ready to use them. Unwashed eggs have a natural antibacterial coating called bloom so the most you need to do is wipe the shells off with a clean nylon scrubber. If you must use water, make sure it's running water that is 10-degrees warmer than the eggs. Dry them off using a clean paper towel and enjoy immediately.
