What does "beyond organic" mean?

Did you know that the USDA approves many synthetic and non-organically produced agriculture products for "certified commercial organic" farmers to use?

Many consumers are mistakingly under the impression "certified organic" means there are no sprays on their foods. The entire definition of "certified organic" can be found at the USDA website. Included is a list of synthetic substances allowed for use in organic crop production.

This is why we at Fresh Edibles Farm are practising "beyond organic" farming practises. This means we have not used any sprays on our farm in the last three years. Should we need to use a spray, we will let our shareholders know ahead of time. Members can also visit our farm at any time to check for themselves how their food is being grown. This one-on-one relationship between our farm and the consumer is a unique relationshp unlike the traditional way of buying at your local grocer or even a farmer's market. You know where your food comes from. You know who is handling your produce.
